Andre Simon founded the original branch of the International Wine & Food Society in London in 1933. The Philadelphia Branch of the Society was originally established in 1952 and was restructured and rechartered in 1977. Our Branch has always been dedicated to encouraging interest in, and knowledge of, food, wine and the arts of the table. Our Branch maintains its own wine cellar with enough wines to allow proper aging and development of the wines so they may be enjoyed at their peak. Critiques are usually conducted at our dinners in order to expand on the understanding, knowledge and awareness of the marriage of food and wine.
